Chris Gibbons
Chris (he/him) has a true passion for summer camp! He spent 10 years as a camper at Camp Fire Camp Sweyolakan in North Idaho before continuing on as a staff member for 11 years. He served in a variety of roles including Counselor, Unit Director, CIT Director, Assistant Camp Director, and Camp Director. Outside of the camp world, Chris also worked for five years as a middle school History and Special Education teacher. He holds a degree in Secondary Education and History from the University of Idaho and will be wrapping up his Masters of Youth Development Leadership at Clemson University this summer!
Through his time at camp, Chris developed a love for the outdoors and creating positive connections with campers. One of his goals is to ensure that everyone can find their space at camp where they feel free to be their most authentic self. In leadership roles at camp, he found a new passion in staff development and truly enjoys getting to know and work with every staff member to help them grow and guide them towards their goals, whether in camp or out. In this realm, Chris serves as the Emerging Professionals in Camping Chair (EPIC) for the Northwest region of the American Camp Association where he works to provide learning, development, and networking opportunities for camp professionals just starting off their career.
Outside of camp, Chris loves traveling and exploring new places, reading, hiking, and playing music.
