2024 Application is Open!

We review applications in the order they are received. Returning staff get priority in job placement if they apply before January 1st.

Step 1: Review Information about Working at Nor’wester

Read through the information here on our website, especially the Staff pages and check out the Summer Movies on our YouTube channel. Feel free to reach out to harper@norwester.org if you have any questions.

Step 2: Online Application

You will need to create a CampInTouch account which will allow you to access your application later and, if hired, will be your portal to all required employment paperwork. The application includes questions about your past experiences, skills, and interest in working at Nor’wester. Please take the time to thoughtfully answer all the questions.

References

During the application, new staff applicants will be asked to provide contact information for three individuals to serve as references for you. Upon submission of your application, those contacts will receive an email link to complete the Reference Form. At least two must be received by the Camp before an application will be given serious review. Two reference forms should be completed by an employer or teacher, preferably one who has first-hand knowledge of your ability to work with children. The third form should be a personal reference completed by adult mentor or family member who can speak to your work ethic and personal responsibility.

Returning staff who have not worked for one summer or more since their last employment with camp will also need to submit references. Please email us at harper@norwester.org with the name, email, and relationship of your reference after you’ve completed your application.

Step 3: Disclosure Form/Authorization for Background Check

All applicants must complete a Disclosure Form form every year which authorizes Nor’wester to run a Background Check. This form is available to you in your CampInTouch account upon completion of your application. Once you have submitted your application, please head to the ‘Forms’ tab in your account to complete it. We rarely review applications for applicants that have not completed this form.

Step 4: First Round Interview

Applicants being seriously considered for a position will be contacted to schedule a video call interview. We will go over general information about working at Nor’wester, positions available, and talk about your best fit at camp. These interviews usually last 45 minutes to an hour The interview is a two-way process: we want to be sure you’re a good fit for our community so it’s just as much a time for you to ask questions as it is for us to ask you questions. Afterwards, we will send the full Job Descriptions for any positions you may be interested in.

Step 5: Second Round Interview

If we’d like to move forward after the first interivew, another member of our team will reach out to schedule a second interview. This interview is a chance to go over some more specific staff policies and expectations, and help narrow in on a specific position that’s a best fit, and again answer any questions you may have.
