“Explore Nor’wester: a preview session”

Camp Norwester has a long history of camp experience and has provided a quality outdoor program for four generations of families. But how do you know if this camp, with its unique traditions and rustic setting is right for your child, especially if he or she hasnt spent much time away from home?

“Explore Nor’wester: a preview session” is an end-of-season session that may help you decide. For 4 days at the end of August, you and your prospective camper can check out the property, meet the Directors, participate in many activities, and get a feel for our facilities and program.

Parents (and grandparents!) come from all over with prospective campers (ages 7-12) to take advantage of this opportunity. The first evening kicks off your time on Johns Island with an overview of camp life. Experienced staff members are available to help families get to know the property and have a safe and fun time.

Activities are planned at our waterfront and craft center, and with our naturalist throughout the day, offering attendees a variety of options. Some activities will be open to drop-in visitors; others will require that interested parties sign up at breakfast. You can be as busy or as laid back as you like. Kids stay with their parents in the tent or tipi units as a preview to where they will live while at camp. For meals, everyone comes together in the lodge to share experiences. There will be campfires and singing, and a salmon barbeque the night before you leave.

We would love the opportunity to give you a glimpse of the Norwester experience. In 2008 “Explore Nor’wester” will be held from August 23rd August 26th. Enrollment is open to children 7-12 years of age and their parents or guardians. Younger siblings may attend with the family but must be at least 3 years of age.
